A toddler was found dead floating face down in water-filled tank in Kailua-Kona on Friday.

Police are investigating but don’t suspect foul play.

The 18-month-old boy was reported dead at 9:37 a.m. at Kona Community Hospital.

According to police, the boy was playing in a vacant lot when his 30-year-old mother “turned away for a few seconds.”

When she looked back, her son was missing. She searched for 10-15 minutes before finding him in the plastic tank.

The boy was unresponsive and the woman attempted cardio-pulmonary resuscitation until the Fire Department arrived.
